Cupuacu

Cupuaçu is Theobroma grandiflorum, but the fruit, frozen or pasteurized pulp, juice or nectar, seeds and seed-derived products are not interchangeable. A comparable lot needs the botanical and product identity, cultivar or seed status where relevant, maturity and harvest, process state, pulp specification, pack, cold-chain record, origin, quantity and delivery terms.

The figures below are minimum analytical parameters for cupuaçu pulp in Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture standards, not current production, a lot certificate, an offer or a live physical price. Each shipment still needs its own sampled test results and applicable destination requirements. Physical value is withheld without a current product-specific lot, origin, quality, rights-cleared market and logistics evidence.

Whole fruit, pulp, beverage and seed products stay separate

Embrapa identifies cupuaçu as Theobroma grandiflorum and describes distinct uses for the pulp and seeds. Whole fruit, fresh or frozen pulp, pasteurized pulp, juice, nectar, dried pulp and seed-derived powders, fats or tablets have different composition, yield, processing, pack, storage and customs identities. Atlas never carries a fruit fact or pulp test into a seed-derived product.

Pulp standards are a floor, not a lot certificate

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture legislation lists cupuaçu juice and pulp and sets analytical parameters for the pulp, including minimum soluble solids, total solids and acidity. Those legal identity-and-quality parameters define a regulatory comparison basis; they do not prove that a shipment complies. The lot needs sampler, laboratory, method, date and result evidence.

Cold chain and process state belong to the trade identity

Cupuaçu pulp may move frozen, pasteurized, dried or otherwise processed. A usable record states fruit reception and selection, depulping, heat treatment where used, freezing or drying method, additives if any, net weight, lot code, production and best-before dates, storage temperature and temperature history. Destination food, labeling and import rules remain explicit.

Dated production estimates are not a physical price

Embrapa's 2025 cupuaçu production book warns that official historical production statistics are incomplete or contradictory and gives dated Pará series only with that limitation. Atlas therefore does not convert an old production total or a fruit-to-pulp yield assumption into current availability or value. A physical comparison needs the exact product, lot analysis, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window, cold-chain and evidence vintage.

Questions procurement teams ask

Are cupuaçu fruit, pulp and seeds the same trade product?

No. Whole fruit, pulp and seed-derived products have different yields, specifications, processes, packs, storage needs and customs identities. Each requires its own product record.

What is Brazil's minimum soluble-solids parameter for cupuaçu pulp?

The Ministry of Agriculture analytical parameter lists a minimum of 9 degrees Brix at 20°C. That is a regulatory threshold, not a shipment test result or a price.

Does a national pulp standard certify a cupuaçu lot?

No. Compliance requires representative sampling, an identified method and laboratory, dated results and the destination's applicable rules. A published threshold alone does not certify the lot.

Which fields make cupuaçu offers comparable?

Botanical and product identity, whole fruit, pulp or seed-derived form, cultivar or seed status where relevant, harvest and maturity, process state, analytical results and methods, additives, pack, lot code, cold chain, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window and evidence date.
