Crude, refined and specialty oils are separate

Crude soybean oil, degummed oil, refined-bleached-deodorized oil and high-oleic or identity-preserved products differ in processing, composition, handling, intended use and commercial specification. Atlas keeps the product state explicit instead of applying one oil description to every lot.

Identity and quality evidence

Codex defines soybean oil by its source and supplies identity and quality factors for food oils. Commercial contracts can additionally specify free fatty acids or acid value, moisture and impurities, peroxide value, colour, unsaponifiable matter, fatty-acid profile, GMO or identity-preserved status, food-safety requirements and the applicable sampling and test methods.

Benchmark and physical delivery remain distinct

CME defines a 60,000-pound soybean oil reference contract quoted in cents per pound. A physical offer still requires the exact oil form and specification, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, load point or destination, delivery window, inspection evidence, basis and logistics before a delivered value can be compared.

Questions procurement teams ask

Are crude and refined soybean oil the same product?

No. Refining changes processing state and quality parameters, while specialty oils can add fatty-acid, identity-preserved or certification requirements.

How large is one CME soybean oil contract?

CME specifies 60,000 pounds, approximately 27.22 metric tons.

Is the CME soybean oil value a delivered physical price?

No. It is a reference-market contract quoted per pound. A delivered physical value additionally needs product form, specification, origin, basis, Incoterm, destination, logistics, delivery timing and evidence vintage.

Which fields make soybean oil offers comparable?

Crude or refined state, quality and fatty-acid specification, intended use, GMO or identity-preserved status where relevant, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window, inspection basis and evidence date.
