Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil is traded as crude, refined, winterized, conventional-linoleic and high-oleic products. A comparable lot needs its processing state, fatty-acid type, food or industrial use, quality specification, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination and delivery window.

Conventional and high-oleic oils are separate

Conventional sunflower oil and high-oleic sunflower oil have different fatty-acid profiles and performance characteristics. Crude, refined-bleached-deodorized and winterized states also change handling, quality controls and intended use. Atlas keeps those identities explicit instead of applying one generic sunflower-oil description to every lot.

Identity and quality evidence

Codex defines sunflowerseed oil by botanical source and separately identifies high-oleic sunflowerseed oil. Commercial contracts can add fatty-acid composition, free fatty acids or acid value, peroxide value, moisture and impurities, wax or winterization requirements, colour, flavour, food-safety controls, certification and the applicable sampling and test methods.

Market scale is not a physical price

USDA production data provides a dated view of global supply, while a physical offer still requires exact product form, fatty-acid type, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, load point or destination, delivery window, inspection evidence and logistics. Atlas does not convert a production statistic or an unrelated vegetable-oil benchmark into a live delivered sunflower-oil price.

Questions procurement teams ask

Are conventional and high-oleic sunflower oil interchangeable?

No. Their fatty-acid profiles and performance characteristics differ, so the oil type must be stated in the contract and supported by specification evidence.

Are crude and refined sunflower oil the same trade product?

No. Refining and winterization change processing state, quality parameters, handling requirements and intended use.

Do USDA production totals establish a live sunflower oil price?

No. They describe dated market scale. A physical price additionally needs product form, specification, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, logistics, delivery timing and evidence vintage.

Which fields make sunflower oil offers comparable?

Processing state, conventional or high-oleic type, fatty-acid and quality specification, intended use, origin, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window, inspection basis and evidence date.
