Tuna (Bluefin)

Global bluefin tuna trade is dominated by Japan (sushi/sashimi demand) and represents ~450–500 kt annually across three species. Atlantic bluefin (ICCAT-managed) commands premium prices ($15–40/kg fresh); Pacific and Southern bluefin face stricter quotas and sustainability pressure. Trade is highly regulated via CITES Appendix I (Southern) and regional fishery commissions; frozen and fresh formats dominate export.
