Acai

Açaí trade begins with species, origin, product stage, pulp concentration, ingredients, preservation and intended use—not a generic berry label. Fresh fruit, frozen fruit, pulp, clarified or concentrated products, beverage bases, powders and finished foods are not automatically comparable. A comparable lot needs the botanical and commercial identity, harvest and processing origin, pulp or solids basis, added water or ingredients, preservation method, microbiological and contaminant criteria, package, temperature regime, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window and information vintage.

The production figures below are dated 2023 Brazilian estimates cited by Embrapa from IBGE data. The current Brazilian regulatory sources establish identity, quality, establishment-registration, hygiene, traceability and export-control boundaries. None of these records is a current physical offer or a live delivered price.

Fruit, pulp, beverage and processed açaí are separate products

Fresh açaí fruit is highly perishable and is not interchangeable with extracted pulp, frozen pulp, clarified or concentrated forms, beverage bases, powders, sorbets or finished foods. Brazil's MAPA framework lists açaí under regulated plant-origin products and ties the applicable identity and quality requirements to the product form. Atlas therefore retains species, fruit or processed form, pulp or solids basis, ingredients, treatment, preservation, package and intended use before comparing production, price or trade evidence.

Origin, processing, hygiene and traceability travel with the lot

Brazilian health guidance for açaí calls for clean covered transport, rejection of unsatisfactory fruit, protected processing, supplier registration, identification of origin and processor, and processing-date records. Export controls may also require destination-specific phytosanitary, quality, identity or sanitary evidence. A comparable physical record keeps harvest origin, processor, lot and processing date, treatment, cold-chain or other preservation conditions, analytical criteria, package, certificates and destination requirements attached.

Dated production totals do not determine a delivered açaí price

Embrapa reports IBGE 2023 estimates of 1,485,113 metric tons harvested across 208,111 hectares in Brazil, averaging 7,136 kilograms per hectare. Pará accounted for 1,388,116 metric tons, or 93.47 percent. Those dated aggregates combine locations, species and commercial channels. A delivered price still requires a defined product and pulp basis, origin, processor, grade or quality evidence, preservation and package, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window and current permitted physical observations.

Questions procurement teams ask

Are açaí fruit and açaí pulp the same trade product?

No. Extraction changes product form, composition, perishability, treatment, package, temperature control and regulatory requirements. Fruit, pulp and finished products require separate specifications and price evidence.

What does the 1,485,113 metric-ton figure represent?

It is a dated estimate for Brazil's 2023 açaí production, reported by Embrapa from IBGE data. It is not a current physical offer, a live delivered price or a universal measure of every açaí product form.

Why does origin matter in açaí procurement?

Origin supports traceability and affects harvest conditions, processing time, logistics and evidence requirements. The cited 2023 estimate also shows that Pará represented 93.47 percent of Brazil's reported production.

Which fields make physical açaí offers comparable?

Species and commercial identity, fruit, pulp, concentrate, powder or finished form, harvest and processing origin, pulp or solids basis, ingredients, treatment and preservation, microbiological and contaminant criteria, processor and lot traceability, processing date, package and temperature regime, quantity, currency, Incoterm, destination, delivery window and evidence date.
